On November 5, 2012, the owner of a 2009 Honda Civic contacted the Houston Police Department to report the vehicle stolen from a parking spot in near Downtown Houston where he had parked while attending a dinner.

Houston Police verified the theft and entered the Honda’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, officers from the Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Honda Civic on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the Honda to a public street, where the vehicle was legally parked and abandoned. It appeared the vehicle had been used for transportation and then abandoned.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Civic on August 2009 at Russell & Smith Honda in Houston, Texas.
