On October 4, 2012, the owner of a 2004 Toyota Corolla contacted the Carteret Police Department to report that her vehicle had been stolen from in front of his home. The owner also called the LoJack Customer Service Desk to advise LoJack of the theft.

The Carteret Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the 2004 Toyota Corolla.

A short time later, patrol officers from the Carteret Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Toyota Corolla on the Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the officers tracked the vehicle to a parking lot, where the vehicle was recovered undamaged.

On October 17, 2012 the vehicle was stolen again. This time, the vehicle was successfully tracked and recovered by the Union County Police Department in less than four hours.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2004 Toyota Corolla on April 7, 2007 at Toyota Land in Springfield, New Jersey (Pre-owned vehicle installation).
