On October 7, 2012, the owner of a 2012 Toyota Camry contacted the South Orange Police Department to report that her vehicle had been stolen while she was at church. The vehicle was parked in the church parking lot on South Orange Avenue in the City of South Orange, New Jersey. The owner also called the LoJack Customer Service Desk to advise LoJack of the theft.

The South Orange Police Department verified the theft and entered the Toyota’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short time later, patrol officers from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Camry on the Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the officers tracked the vehicle to Prospect Street in the City of Irvington, where the vehicle was recovered undamaged.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2012 Toyota Camry on December 29, 2012 at Toyota Land in Springfield, New Jersey.
