On October 5, 2012, the owner of a 2011 Toyota Corolla contacted the Kyle Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen from her driveway in Kyle, Texas.

Kyle Police verified the theft and entered the Toyota’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

Minutes later, officers from the Austin Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Toyota on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the Toyota and observed it stopped in traffic at the intersection of Briardale and Colony Creek.  One suspect was driving and another was in the front passenger seat.  Officers were able to stop the vehicle before it drove away.  The driver was arrested for operating a stolen vehicle and the passenger, who had active warrants, was arrested as well.

This stolen Toyota was recovered with no damage.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2011 Toyota Corolla in March of 2012 at Ron Carter Toyota.
