On September 14, 2012 the owner of a 2010 Cadillac Escalade contacted the Newark Police Department to report that her vehicle had been stolen from in front of her home on Keer Avenue in the City of Newark. The owner also placed a call to LoJack Custom Service to report that this was the second time this vehicle had been stolen this year.

The Newark Police Department verified the theft and entered the Cadillac’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

Within an hour, a patrol officer with the Essex County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Cadillac Escalade on the Police Tracking Computers installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to a housing project, where the vehicle was recovered with a minimal amount of damage to the vehicle’s ignition.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2010 Cadillac Escalade on July 8, 2010 at McGuire Cadillac in Woodbridge, New Jersey.
