On Saturday, September 15, 2012, the owner of a Honda Accord contacted the Allentown Police Department to report the vehicle stolen from their residence. Allentown officers verified the theft and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the stolen Honda.

A few minutes later, officers from Bethlehem City picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Honda on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to an area in Bethlehem City. There, the officers observed the parked vehicle, and cautiously approached. Upon determining that it was unoccupied, the officers recovered the vehicle and arranged to have it returned to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Accord on September 23, 1994, at Herb Chambers in Boston, Massachusetts.
