On August 24, 2012 the owner of a 2012 Ford Mustang contacted the Dinuba Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen from in front of her residence. Dinuba Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Ford.

A short while later, a sergeant with the Dinuba Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Ford on the Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the sergeant tracked the vehicle to the parking lot of an apartment complex near the 1800 block of College in Dinuba. There, he located the unoccupied, abandoned vehicle in the parking lot.

The vehicle, valued at $23,000, was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the recovery scene.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Ford Mustang in August of 2012 by Liberty Chevrolet in Selma, California.
