On Friday, August 17, 2012, the owner of a Plymouth Voyager contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. After verifying the theft, Baltimore City Police had the Plymouth’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, an officer from the Delaware Division of State Parks was on patrol in Wilmington, Delaware and picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Plymouth on the Police Tracking Computer installed in the patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officer tracked the vehicle to the area of 1100 Heald Street in Wilmington. There, the officer observed the parked vehicle, and approached in a cautious manner. The officer determined that the vehicle was unoccupied and arranged to have the vehicle confiscated for safekeeping.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Plymouth Voyager on March 31, 1999 at Autoland. The owner had recently purchased the Plymouth, and was unaware that its previous owner had installed a LoJack system.
