On August 17, 2012, the owner of a 2012 Honda Accord contacted the Denton Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from an apartment complex in Denton. The owner had left a spare key in the center console. Denton Police verified the theft and entered the Honda’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, officers from the Denton Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Honda on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to an apartment complex, where they found the stolen Honda abandoned in the parking lot. The vehicle was recovered with no damage.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2012 Honda Accord in July of 2012 at Jim McNatt Toyota in Denton, Texas.
