On August 15, 2012, the owner a 2007 Yamaha R-1 motorcycle discovered that his bike was missing from the parking lot of his apartment complex in San Jose, California. The owner contacted the San Jose Police Department to report the theft.  San Jose officers verified the theft and entered the Yamaha’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the motorcycle.  LoJack is the only theft recovery system that is directly operated by law enforcement and this interface is seamless and instantaneous.

A short while later, officers from the San Jose Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Yamaha on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack PTCs, San Jose Patrol Officers tracked the stolen motorcycle to a residence in East San Jose. Officers gained entry to the residence and found the stolen motorcycle, hidden in the garage.  The male suspect in the home was arrested for the theft.  The owner of the bike was alerted to the recovery of his bike and responded to the location.  The only damage to the bike was a punched ignition.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this vehicle in September of 2007 at Bay Area MotorSports West in Burlingame, California.
