On August 9, 2012 the LoJack customer noticed that his 2001 John Deere Generator was missing from a construction site in the City of Passaic. The customer called the Passaic Police Department to report the equipment stolen.

The Passaic Police Department verified the theft and entered the John Deere’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the generator

A short time later, a patrol officer from the Passaic Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen John Deere Generator on the Police Tracking Computers installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the patrol officer tracked the vehicle to a construction company on River Street, in City of Passaic. The generator, valued at $8,500, was recovered undamaged.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2001, John Deere Generator on August 29, 2001 in United Rentals-Elmwood Park, New Jersey.
