On July 7, 2012 the owner of a 2006 Honda Accord, contacted the Irvington Police Department to report that her vehicle had been stolen from Charles Avenue in the city of Irvington. The vehicle owner stated that she had left the engine running while she was unloading laundry out of vehicle. An unknown male jumped into vehicle and began to drive away. The vehicle owner attempted to pull the suspect out of vehicle but the suspect would have dragged her along if she hadn’t let go.

The Irvington Police Department verified the theft and entered the Honda’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short time later, an officer from the Newark Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Accord on the Police Tracking Computers installed in his police vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officer tracked the vehicle to an area near Prospect Street, in the City of Newark, New Jersey. There, they recovered the undamaged vehicle.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Accord on February 23, 2012, at VIP Honda (DEX) in North Plainfield, New Jersey.
