LoJack Aids in Quick Recovery of Stolen GMC Envoy by Boston Police and MA State Troopers

On July 20, 2012, the owner of a 2008 GMC Envoy contacted the Boston Police Department’s District 4 to report that his vehicle was stolen from outside his residence in the Hyde Park Section of Boston, sometime after 10:00PM the previous evening. The Boston Police Department verified the theft and entered the GMC’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, Boston Police Officers and Massachusetts State Troopers picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen GMC on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the troopers and Quincy Police officers tracked the vehicle to the area of the Southeast Expressway, near Granite Street in Quincy.  

There, the officers located the unoccupied GMC on Ricciuti Drive in Quincy, and immediately set up surveillance on the reported stolen vehicle. After a period of time passed and no suspects returned to the GMC, they had the vehicle towed from the scene of recovery for safekeeping and notification of the victim by the Boston Police Department.
