Employees of a construction company in Utah County last saw their 2010 Wanco trailer-mounted “Light Tower” at a construction site near SR75 in Springville, Utah, over a year ago. Several attempts to locate the Light Tower by the company made them suspicious that the trailer was stolen. They contacted the Utah Highway Patrol and a theft report was made. On July 23, 2012, the Utah ‘Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division” verified that the Light Tower was still missing  and entered the trailer’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, a Utah State Trooper working out of the Orem office began picking up the silent LoJack signal coming from the stolen Light Tower on the Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the trooper quickly tracked the trailer to a brushy area off 1500 North and I-15, near the City of Orem. According to the trooper, the Light Tower, found intact, was not visible from street level. Although the investigation revealed the Tower had not been stolen, but misplaced, the construction company was glad to have the Tower intact and accounted for.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed on July 13, 2010.
