On July 23, 2012, the owner of a 2005 Acura TL contacted the Kent Police Department to report the vehicle stolen from the 19200 block of 62nd Avenue South during a commercial burglary on the weekend of July 21-23.  The theft was discovered on the morning of July 23rd.  Also stolen were tools and electronic equipment.  Kent Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s identification number into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Acura.

Less than twenty minutes later, an officer with the Renton Police Department received the Acura’s silent LoJack homing signal on the Police Tracking Computer installed in her patrol car.  Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the officer located the vehicle in the 11400 block of SE 194th Street in Renton.  It did not appear to be damaged. Kent Police responded to the scene to process the vehicle for evidence before releasing it to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Acura TL in May of 2005 at the owner’s request when he purchased it at Hinshaw’s Honda in Auburn, Washington.
