On July 17, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Honda CRV contacted the Austin Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from a job site in Austin.  The owner had just finished work and had left his vehicle running, with his two dogs inside, to lock up the job site.  When he returned, he discovered that his vehicle and his dogs were missing.

Austin Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda CRV.

A short while later, deputies from Dallas County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Honda on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the deputies tracked the stolen Honda to a fast food restaurant parking lot. They located the vehicle in the lot with a suspect sitting inside; the deputies quickly arrested him. The owner’s two dogs were found alive and well inside the Honda.  The suspect was attempting to sell the stolen Honda for $200.00.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2007 Honda CRV in April of 2007 at the Vandergriff Honda.
