On July 15, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Yamaha, YZF-R1 motorcycle contacted the New York Police Department to report his motorcycle stolen while parked in front of his residence in the Bronx.

NYPD officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers (NYSPIN/NCIC), which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Yamaha motorcycle.

A short while later, officers from NYPD’s 41st Precinct located in the Bronx, picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Yamaha on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked and located the motorcycle under a tarp in the 800 block of Hunts Point Avenue, an industrial area of the Bronx. The undamaged Yamaha was impounded for safekeeping and eventually released to a very happy owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Yamaha YZF-R1 in May of 2010 at Camrod Motorsports in Manhattan.
