NYPD Officers Stop Stolen Nissan Murano in Queens, Arrest Suspect, Recover Undamaged Vehicle

On June 16 2012, the owner of a2009 Nissan Murano contacted the New York Police Department’s 113th precinct to report the vehicle stolen from in front of his house, in Ozone Park in Queens, New York. NYPD officers verified the theft and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Nissan Murano.

A short while later, officers from the NYPD’s 113th Precinct picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Murano on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to a residential street in the South Ozone Flatbush section of Queens, confines of the 113th Precinct. There, they located the vehicle being operated by a lone female. They managed to stop the vehicle without incident; after a brief investigation they placed the female under arrest.

The vehicle was recovered in excellent condition, without any damage. The owner was notified and was elated to learn that her vehicle was recovered so quickly, especially without any damage. She was additionally pleased to learn that the person who was responsible for the theft was arrested.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2009 Nissan Murano in July of 2008 at Koeppel Nissan in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York.
