On July 3, 2012, the owner of a Ford F350 Super Cab pickup contacted the King County Sheriff’s Office to report the vehicle stolen from a hotel parking lot in the 18000 block of Pacific Highway South sometime after 10:00PM. the previous night.  King County deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s identification number into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Ford.

Less than one hour later, Washington State Patrol troopers received the silent LoJack homing signal transmitting from the stolen Ford pickup on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol cars.  Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the vehicle was located at different hotel parking lot located in the 3200 block of South 176th Street in SeaTac.  The truck was abandoned, with only minor damage to the driver’s side door lock. Troopers recovered the vehicle and released it to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Ford F350 in September of 2007, when it was purchased new.  The owner of the truck, Unavco, requested the installation.
