On July 7, 2012, the owner of a 2002 Kia Sedona contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the 100 block of West North Avenue in Baltimore City, Maryland. Baltimore City Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Kia.

A short while later, officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department in Maryland picked up the silent Lojack homing signals from the stolen Kia on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to the 1400 block of Scanlan Drive in the Glen Burnie area of Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The officers recovered the undamaged stolen Kia and quickly notified the grateful owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Kia Sedona in June of 2002 at Kia of Glen Burnie.
