On June 8, 2012, the owner of a 2003 Ford F250 pickup contacted the Round Rock Police Department to report his vehicle stolen from a business parking lot in Round Rock. Round Rock officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Ford F250 pickup.

A short while later, officers from the Austin Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Ford pickup on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to a trailer park, where they found it parked alongside two other Ford F250 pickups and a Dodge pickup.  After a quick investigation, the officers determined that both of these pickups were stolen as well.

The steering column was the only damage done to this stolen Ford F250 pickup.  This remains an ongoing investigation.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2003 Ford F250 pickup in August of 2003.
