On June 18, 2012 the owner of a 2004 Jaguar Vandenplas contacted the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home. Lexington County deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Jaguar.

A short while later, officers from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Jaguar on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the Jaguar to an apartment complex. The Jaguar was recovered intact and undamaged in the parking lot. Deputies were not able to locate any suspects, but the investigation remains ongoing.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Jaguar on December 5, 2003 at Nalley Lexus in Roswell, Georgia.
