On June 5, 2012, the owner of a 2005 Dodge Magnum contacted the District of Columbia’s Metropolitan Police Department to report the vehicle stolen from 1800 Rosedale Street NE in Washington, DC. District of Columbia officers verified the theft and entered the Dodge’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, officers from the District of Columbia’s Metropolitan Police Department picked up the silent Lojack homing signals from the stolen Dodge on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to the 200 block of 56th Street NE in Washington, DC. There, the officers recovered the unoccupied stolen Dodge.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Dodge Magnum in August of 2005 at Koons Ford-Dodge in Falls Church, Virginia.
