On May 27, 2012, the owner of a 2004 Yamaha YZF-R1 reported the motorcycle stolen to the San Marcos Police Department. After verifying the theft, San Marcos officers had the Yamaha’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed within the motorcycle.

A short time later, officers with the Austin Police Department received the Yamaha’s silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their police vehicles. Following the directional and audible signals on the LoJack Trackers, the officers located the stolen motorcycle to a two-story buildilng, where they found it parked in the carport.  Parked next to it was another stolen Yamaha motorcycle. Police interviewed witnesses in the area and were able to generate a suspect. An arrest warrant is pending.

This is the third time this motorcycle was stolen and recovered using LoJack. The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Yamaha motorcycle at the owner’s request in April of 2010.
