On May 22, 2012, the owner of a 2008 Scion TC contacted the Citrus Heights Police Department to report the theft of her vehicle from the Sunrise Mall parking lot. After verifying the theft, Citrus Heights officers had the Scion’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short time later, deputies with the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department began to receive the Scion’s silent LoJack signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their police vehicles. Following the directional and audible signal on the LoJack Trackers, the officers located the Scion in a residential area near Simi Valley Way and Shelford Place. The vehicle was unoccupied and parked at the curb.

The undamaged Scion was towed and stored to be released to the owner later.
