Ford Pickup Stolen in Colorado Quickly Recovered with Only Minor Ignition Damage

On May 13, 2012 the owners of a 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck contacted the Wheat Ridge Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home.
The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the pickup and prompted it to begin emitting a silent homing signal.
A short while later, officers from the Lakewood Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen truck on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTCs, the Lakewood officers tracked the stolen pickup to the area of 6700 block of West Cedar Place. There, they located the abandoned vehicle. The only visible damage was to the ignition. The police collected evidence at the scene and completed a neighborhood canvas.
The pickup was returned to the owners, who were very pleased that they had installed a LoJack Vehicle Recovery System in the Ford F-150 in February 2012.
