San Antonio Police Recover Stolen Ford Pickup Minutes After Theft Reported, Very Minor Damage

When the owners of a 2006 Ford F150 pickup discovered that their vehicle had been stolen on May 3, 2012, they immediately filed a theft report with the San Antonio Police Department. After gathering all pertinent information, San Antonio officers completed a stolen vehicle report and had the pickup truck’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the pickup, thereby prompting it to begin emitting a silent homing signal. Neither the owners nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Vehicle Recovery Network, as LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.
Less than an hour later, officers with the San Antonio Department picked up the Ford’s silent homing signals from on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol cars. The officers followed the directional and signal strength information on the PTC and quickly located the pickup, abandoned in an apartment parking lot. The owner was summoned to the scene to retrieve the vehicle. The pickup sustained very minor entry and ignition damage.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed at the original owner’s request in August 2006.
