Home Depot Delivery Truck Stolen from Store Parking Lot in San Antonio, Recovered Minutes Later

When the Manager of the Home Depot discovered that his 2008 Ford F350 delivery truck had been stolen from the store’s parking lot on May 2, 2012, he immediately filed a theft report with the San Antonio Police Department. After gathering all of the pertinent information, San Antonio officers completed a stolen vehicle report and had the truck’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the truck, prompting it to begin emitting a silent homing signal. Neither the owners nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Vehicle Recovery Network, as LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Less than 30 minutes later, officers from the San Antonio Police Department’s auto theft task force received the truck’s silent homing signals on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol cars. Following the directional arrow and signal meter information on the PTC, the officers quickly located the vehicle, parked and abandoned. Home Depot employees came to the location and the police released the truck into their custody.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed at the original owner’s request in February 2008.
