Stolen Dodge Ram Pickup Recovered by Longmont, CO Officers, Abandoned and Undamaged

When the owners of a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck discovered that the truck had been stolen, they reported the theft to the Dacono Police Department. It was the police department’s routine entry of the Ram’s information into the nationwide law enforcement stolen vehicle computer system that automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the pickup. Neither the owners nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Vehicle Recovery Network, as LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.
Within a few hours, officers with the Longmont Police Department began to receive the Ram’s silent LoJack signals on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol cars. After receiving a full description of the pickup truck, the officers followed the directional and signal strength cues on the PTC and quickly located the abandoned stolen Dodge. The police recovered the undamaged Dodge, collected evidence from the vehicle, and returned it to the very happy owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Dodge Ram at the owner’s request in August 2009.
