Ford F150 Pickup Stolen TWICE in Two Weeks, Recovered Undamaged by Utah Police Both Times

On the night of April 24, 2012, the owners of a 2006 Ford F150 parked their vehicle at their home in the City of West Jordan. The next morning, the owners discovered the truck stolen and immediately contacted the West Jordan Police Department where to report the theft. After verifying the theft, West Jordan Police prepared a vehicle theft report and had the Ford’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer systems. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed within the pickup truck, prompting it to begin emitting a silent homing signal.
A few hours later, officers with the Unified Police Department and the Utah Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division began picking up the Ford’s silent LoJack signal on their LoJack equipped patrol cars in the City of West Jordan. Within minutes, Motor Vehicle Enforcement officers had located the abandoned, but still intact, Ford F150 in an apartment complex’s parking lot.
Eleven days later, on May 5th, the owners were shocked to find that their pickup had once again been stolen overnight from their residence. The owners again called the West Jordan Police Department, and the process began again.
Within minutes, an officer with the Salt Lake City Police Department began picking up the Ford’s silent LoJack signal in the nearby City of Midvale. The officer tracked the stolen truck into Midvale, where Unified Police responded to assist and make the recovery of the abandoned truck.
The owners of the Ford pickup had no idea that their vehicle had been outfitted with a LoJack Vehicle Recovery System by the previous owner in 2006, but were thrilled that it had. The LoJack system had paid off for a second time – in little more than a week!
