Stolen Honda Tracked to Warehouse — 5 Total Vehicles Recovered in Process of Being Stripped

On April 18, 2012, the owners of a 1998 Honda Civic discovered that their vehicle had been stolen and immediately filed a theft report with the Houston Police Department. After gathering all of the pertinent information, Houston Police entered the vehicle’s information into the state and national law enforcement stolen vehicle computer system. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda. Neither the owners nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.
The next day, officers with the Houston Police Department received the Honda’s silent LoJack signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol cars. The officers queried the LoJack “Reply Code” appearing on the PTC display screen with the police computer system and were given a complete description of the stolen Honda. Following the directional and signal strength information on the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to a small warehouse storage facility. Auto theft investigators were called in to obtain a search warrant for unit # 111. Upon searching the unit, the investigators discovered the stolen Honda Civic, along with two additional stolen Honda cars and two (2) motorcycles were recovered. All vehicles were in the process of being stripped. A suspect has been identified and charges will be filed.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed at the original owner’s request in February 2008.
