Prince Georges County Officers Recover Stolen Jaguar XF Using LoJack

On April 12, 2012, the owner of a 2009 Jaguar XF called the Prince Georges County Police Department to report the vehicle stolen from a service station in the 12000 block of Central Avenue in Prince Georges County, Maryland. An officer responded to the scene and, after conducting a preliminary investigation, obtained all of the necessary information, including the Jaguar’s vehicle identification number. The officer then had this information entered into the state and federal crime computer databases – a routine police action that automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Vehicle Recovery Network, as LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
A short while later, officers with the Prince Georges County Police Department received the silent LoJack homing signal on their patrol car’s LoJack Police Tracking Computer. The directional and audible LoJack signal led officers to a hospital parking lot in the 8100 block of Good Luck Road in the Lanham section of Prince Georges County. There, officers located the vehicle, parked and unoccupied, with fraudulent temporary tags displayed. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Jaguar at the new car buyer’s request in September 2011.
