Toyota Camry Stolen for 2nd Time in 5 Months — Recovered Again with LoJack

The owner of a 2003 Toyota Camry 4-door mistakenly left her keys in the entrance door lock of her residence on South Ash Street in Tacoma. Opportunistic thieves took the keys and quickly located her car. A neighbor observed two suspects taking the keys and notified the owner. After verifying that her car had been stolen, the owner reported the theft to the Tacoma Police Department.
Tacoma officers completed a stolen vehicle report and had the Toyota’s VIN entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.
Just ten minutes later, Tacoma Police Department officers and Pierce County Sheriff deputies received the silent signal transmitting from the stolen Camry on their patrol cars’ LoJack Police Tracking Computers. Following the directional and signal strength cues on the LoJack Tracker, the police tracked the Camry to the 1700 block of South 84th Street, where they found the vehicle abandoned and undamaged. They quickly recovered the vehicle and returned it to the owner.
This same vehicle was stolen and recovered by Pierce County Sheriff deputies using LoJack tracking technology just five months earlier. The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Camry in April of 2011 when it was purchased as a used car.
