Chevrolet Pickup Stolen During Armed Home Invasion — 3 Suspects Arrested in Ft. Worth, Houston

On March 24, 2012, three suspects entered a home in Mansfield, Texas, and robbed the resident at gunpoint. The suspects then took the resident’s car keys and drove away in his 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck. The owner quickly reported the crime to the Mansfield Police Department.
The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the pickup’s information entered into the state and federal police computer systems. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the pickup. Neither the owner nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Later that day, officers with the Ft. Worth Police Department picked up the pickup’s silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) installed in their vehicle. Following the directional and signal strength cues on the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen pickup to an apartment complex in Ft. Worth. As the officers approached the vehicle, they observed a suspect – matching the description of the one of the suspects involved in the home invasion – hiding behind a dumpster nearby. The officers arrested the individual, who was later positively identified by the victim during a police lineup. The two remaining suspects were also identified, and arrest warrants issued. The two were later taken into custody in Houston.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the pickup at the previous owner’s request on October 23, 2001.
