Toyota Camry Stolen from Owner's Residence Overnight Quickly Recovered by Gresham Police

A 2011 Toyota Camry LE was stolen during the night of March 24, 2012, from the owners’ residence in the 1900 block of Northwest 16th Avenue in Gresham. When the theft was discovered the following morning, the owners immediately reported the crime to the Gresham Police Department.
Gresham officers completed a stolen vehicle report and had the Toyota’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed within in the Toyota. Neither the owners nor law enforcement agents had to take any further action to initiate police tracking of the vehicle, as LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.
Thirteen minutes later, an officer with the Gresham Police Department picked up the Camry’s silent homing on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in his patrol car. Following the visual and audible cues from the PTC, the officer quickly tracked and located the stolen Camry, parked and abandoned in the 200 block of SW Florence. The officer recovered the undamaged vehicle and stored it until it could be returned to the owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Toyota Camry in June 2010.
