Denver Officers Quickly Recover Nissan Altima Stolen in Colorado Springs with Help of LoJack

On March 17, 2012, the owners of a 2006 Nissan Altima discovered that their vehicle had been stolen and immediately reported the theft to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Colorado Springs officers completed a stolen vehicle report and had the Nissan’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed within in the Nissan. Neither the owners nor law enforcement agents had to take any further action to initiate police tracking of the vehicle, as LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.

Just 3 minutes later, officers with the Denver Police Department received the Nissan’s silent homing on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol cars. Following the visual and audible cues from the PTC, the officers quickly tracked the stolen Nissan to the area of 26th and Walnut Streets in Denver, over 70-miles from the theft location. Officers safely recovered the vehicle and stored it for safekeeping until it could be returned to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Nissan Altima five years ago at the owner’s request.
