Delaware State Trooper Recovers Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor Stolen in Philadelphia

On Monday, March 19, 2012, Amtrak workers arrived at an Amtrak construction site located in the area of 34th and Girard in West Philadelphia. Upon inspecting the site, the workers discovered that a 1998 Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor was missing.
The construction foreman called Amtrak Police Headquarters, and an Amtrak officer was dispatched to investigate the incident. The officer arrived on location, interviewed the workers, and surveyed the area for the missing equipment. When the equipment could not be located, the assigned officer prepared and submitted a stolen vehicle report. The stolen compressor’s information was then entered into the Pennsylvania State Police Computer, thus activating the LoJack transponder concealed within the stolen equipment.
The following evening, a Delaware State Police Trooper began to pick up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen compressor on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional signals from the tracking computer, the Trooper tracked the signal to the area of Bear, Delaware, where he observed the parked equipment. Amtrak Police were notified and arrived on location to assist with the recovery.
Amtrak Police are continuing an investigation into the theft.
