Owner of Stolen Nissan Maxima Surprised to Learn of Her Vehicle’s LoJack System After Quick Recovery

A 2008 Nissan Maxima was stolen during the night of March 3, 2012 from a hotel parking garage located in the 600 block of South Capitol Way in Olympia. When the owner discovered the theft, she immediately reported it to the Olympia Police Department.
Olympia officers prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the Nissan’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Less than one hour later, an Olympia Police Department officer received the silent homing signal transmitting from the stolen Nissan on the LoJack Tracker installed in his patrol car. Units from Lacey and Tumwater were called in to assist. The Nissan was located, undamaged, in the 300 block of North Washington Street near the Intercity Transit Station.
The surprised and grateful owner was called to retrieve her car. She had purchased the vehicle recently and did not know the previous owner had installed the LoJack Vehicle Recovery System when it was purchased at Renton Honda in October 2010.
