Honda Accord Stolen in Colorado Springs, Recovered Minutes Later by Officers Using LoJack

On the morning of March 12, 2012, the owner of a 2003 Honda Accord reported the vehicle stolen to the Colorado Springs Police Department. Colorado Springs officers prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the Honda’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer systems. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Accord. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Minutes later, a trooper with the Colorado State Patrol picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Honda on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional cues on the tracking computer, the trooper located the Accord, parked and abandoned in an apartment building parking lot. The vehicle was impounded for safekeeping until it could be returned to the owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Accord at the owner’s request in August 2003.
