Stolen Hyundai Tiburon Recovered by Aurora Police Minutes After Theft is Reported, Suspects Identified

On the afternoon of February 1, 2012, while on routine patrol, officers with the Aurora Police Department began to pick up the silent LoJack homing signals from a vehicle in their vicinity. When the officers queried the code appearing on their Police Tracking Computers against the national police database, they received confirmation that the distress signals were coming from a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon reported stolen minutes earlier to the Denver Police Department.
The LoJack Police Tracking Computer provides officers with on-board information that enables police to quickly locate stolen vehicles, and with an increased margin of safety. Using this information, the officers tracked the stolen Hyundai to the area of Yale and Buckley, where the vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner. Suspects have been identified and contacted, and the investigation is continuing.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System had been installed in the Hyundai Tiburon at the owner’s request in April 2005.
