Several Washington Police Agencies Recover Infiniti G35 Stolen by Owner’s Relative, 2 Arrested

In the early morning hours of February 28, 2012, the owner of a 2004 Infiniti G35 contacted the Tacoma Police Department to report that a close relative had taken the vehicle without his permission from the 8400 block of 6th Avenue in Tacoma.
Tacoma Police prepared a stolen vehicle report and had this information entered into the state and federal crime databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Infiniti. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Just fifteen minutes after later, several agencies in Pierce County — including the Tacoma Police Department, Lakewood Police Department and Pierce County Sheriff’s Department — began to receive the silent homing signal transmitting from the stolen Infiniti with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their vehicles. Following the audio and visual computer cues, the officers located the stolen Infiniti, traveling in the 5500 block of McKinley in Tacoma. Officers initiated a felony stop, and took two suspects into custody. The vehicle did not appear to be damaged, and was recovered by police.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Infiniti G35 in August of 2004.
