Nissan ZX300 Stolen from One Apartment Complex in Pierce County, Recovered Minutes Later at Another

Sometime during a 17-hour window between February 23 and February 24, 2012, a 1996 Nissan 300ZX was stolen from an apartment complex in the 900 block of 115th Street East in Tacoma. When the owner discovered the vehicle stolen, he immediately contacted the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department to report the theft.
Pierce County deputies completed a vehicle theft report and had this information entered into the state and federal crime databases – a routine police action that automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Nissan. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Less than thirty minutes later, a Pierce County deputy received the silent homing signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) installed in his patrol car. Within a few minutes, he tracked the signal to another apartment complex located in the 1100 block of 99th Street where he located the abandoned Nissan. The only damage appeared to be to the center dash area, where the stereo was removed.
The Nissan was recovered without incident, and returned to the owner at the scene of recovery. The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Nissan 300ZX in January of 2011.
