Nissan Sentra Stolen at Gunpoint — Dallas Police Apprehend Two Suspects After Attempting to Flee

On the night of March 7, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Nissan Sentra was walking out of a convenience store when he was approached by two individuals. The individuals displayed a handgun and demanded that he hand over his car keys. When the owner turned over his car keys, the suspects quickly fled in his car. The owner immediately contacted the Irving Police Department to report the theft.
After completing a vehicle theft report, Irving Police had the information entered into the state and federal crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Less than an hour later, Dallas Police officers picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Nissan on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their vehicle. Following the computer’s cues, the officers tracked the Nissan to the 3000 block of Lombardy, where they observed it parked on the street. There were two suspects sitting inside the stolen vehicle. When the officers approached the suspects, the suspects attempted to drive off, but were immediately stopped and apprehended.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Nissan Sentra at the previous owner’s request on July 6, 2007.
