Aurora and Denver Police Recover Stolen Nissan Xterra, Arrest Two Suspects for Theft

When the owners of this Nissan Xterra discovered that their vehicle had been stolen, they reported the theft to the Aurora Police Department.  It was the police department’s routine entry of the Xterra’s information into the nationwide law enforcement stolen vehicle computer system that automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owners nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack system, as LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.

Minutes later, officers with the Aurora and Denver Police Departments received the silent homing signals from the stolen vehicle with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol cars. Following the directional and signal strength cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Xterra to 14th and Dayton Streets, where two suspects were arrested. The vehicle was recovered and held for safekeeping until it could be returned to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Nissan Xterra at the owner’s request in August 2001.
