18-Year Old LoJack System Recovers Honda Accord for the 2nd Time in Washington

The current owner of a 1993 Honda Accord EX was not aware that it a LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the vehicle almost eighteen years ago, but on February 26, 2012, he was very pleased to learn that it was. On that evening, the owner discovered the Honda stolen from the 21700 block of 125th Street Ct. East in unincorporated Pierce County.
The owner immediately reported the theft to deputies with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, who prepared a stolen vehicle report and had this information entered into the state and federal crime databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Less than two hours after later, a Washington State Patrol trooper received the silent homing signal transmitting from the stolen Honda on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the audio and visual cues appearing computer, the trooper located the Honda, abandoned in an apartment complex parking lot in the 200 block of 21st Avenue SW in Puyallup. The trooper recovered the undamaged vehicle and returned it to the grateful owner at the scene.
This is the second time this vehicle was stolen and recovered using LoJack technology – the first time was in 1998 in Tukwila. The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Accord in May of 1994 and has been protecting it ever since.
