Ford F150 Pickup Stolen in Vancouver, Recovered in Portland

The owner of a 2008 Ford F150 pickup parked his vehicle at his place of business on February 12, 2012. When he returned for the vehicle several days later, on February 15, he discovered the pickup missing, and reported the theft to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. The responding deputy gathered all of the pertinent vehicle information, completed a stolen vehicle report and had the Ford’s information entered into the state and federal crime databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.
Just eleven minutes later, officers with the Portland Police Department began to receive the silent homing signal from the stolen Ford on the LoJack Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible signals from the computer, the officers located the abandoned pickup to the intersection of East Burnside Street & SE 127th Avenue in Portland. The police quickly recovered the undamaged vehicle.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Ford pickup in March of 2009.
