Stolen Mercedes R-35 Sold to Auto Auction, Recovered by Police in Cobb County, GA

On February 28, 2012, the owner of a 2006 Mercedes SUV reported to the Woodstock Police that someone stole her vehicle from her driveway, with the title to the SUV inside the glove compartment.
The Woodstock Police gathered the pertinent information, prepared the stolen vehicle report, and had the information about the Mercedes entered into the state and federal crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Mercedes. Neither the owner nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the hidden transponder, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
A short while later, the LoJack transpoder inside began to emit a silent homing signal to police cars in the area equipped with LoJack Tracking Computers. A Cobb County Police officer picked up the signal on his tracking computer and, following the computer’s directional and signal strength cues, tracked the stolen Mercedes to a used vehicle car lot in the city of Marietta.
The owner of the car lot stated to the police that he had purchased the Mercedes at an auto auction and had the papers to prove it. The police impounded the car until the papers could be verified.
The grateful owner was unaware that a LoJack Vehicle Recovery System had been installed in the Mercedes when it was purchased at Team Ford in 2009.
