Pembroke Pines Officers Recover Stolen Nissan Sentra Minutes After Theft is Reported

On Monday, February 13, 2012, the owner of a 2012 Nissan Sentra 4-door sedan contacted the Pembroke Pines Police Department to report their vehicle stolen. Upon arrival at the scene, the responding officer met with the owner of the Sentra, who advised that someone had stolen their vheicle from where they had parked it. The officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the vehicle’s information entered into the federal-state crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Nissan Sentra.
Minutes later, a Pembroke Pines Police Department officer received the silent LoJack radio signal from the stolen Nissan’s LoJack unit, and began tracking it by following the directional and signal strength cues on their patrol car’s LoJack Police Tracking Computer. Shortly thereafter, the Pembroke Pines officer located the sedan, parked near the clubhouse of the development where the owner lives. The vehicle was recovered in pristine condition, released to the owner at to the scene, and removed from federal-state crime computer systems.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Nissan Sentra on August 17, 2011, and has been protecting it ever since.
