Denver Police Track and Recover Stolen Honda Civic, Minutes After Theft, Using LoJack

On the morning of January 25, 2012, while on routine patrol, an officer with the Denver Police Department began to pick up the silent LoJack signal from a stolen vehicle in the vicinity on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) installed in his patrol car. The LoJack PTC provides officers with on-board information that enables them to quickly locate stolen vehicles, and with an increased margin of safety. When the officer queried the code on the PTC against the police computer database, he was informed that he was tracking a 2004 Honda Civic that was reported stolen minutes earlier to the Denver Police.
Following the directional and signal strength cues on the PTC, the officer tracked the stolen Civic to the 2900 block of Huron Street. There, the officer located and recovered the Civic, in good condition. The vehicle was returned to a very relieved owner at the scene.
This Honda Civic had been installed with a LoJack Vehicle Recovery System at the request of the owner in September 2004.
