Toyota Camry Stolen and Recovered, Minutes Later, in Baltimore County

On the morning of February 9, 2012, the owner of a 1996 Toyota Camry reported that the vehicle was stolen from the 3700 block of Springdell Avenue in Baltimore County. Anofficer responded to the scene and, after conducting a preliminary investigation and obtaining all the vehicle information, completed a vehicle theft report. All of the Toyota’s information was then entered into the Maryland and national police crime databases — a routine police action that automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Within minutes, detectives assigned to the Regional Auto Theft Task Force received the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Toyota on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible signal on the PTCs, officers tracked the vehicle to the 3800 block of Washington Avenue. There, they located the vehicle, parked, unoccupied and undamaged. Police recovered the vehicle and notified the owner.
